CasualAI or pass and play: no rating change.

Easy AI · you play BlackTurn 1

You play Black: the AI moves first.

Your first game

Try each move once

  1. Roll the die and place the piece it gives. Next.
  2. Move one of your pieces like in chess.
  3. Take a piece, or get your King out of check.

The line above the die says what to do. Checkmate wins.

How to play

Chess from two bare Kings

  1. Only the Kings start on the 6x6 board: on your turn, roll the die and place that piece on any empty square where it does not give check, or make a chess move.
  2. Your first piece goes on your half, and White's first piece is a Pawn on d3.
  3. In check you must move, not roll; you may never leave your King in check, and checkmate wins.

Pawns are never placed on the first or last row; they step one square and become a Queen on the last row. No castling. A rolled piece with no legal square is lost. 60 turns each without checkmate is a draw.

On the board: dots are squares you can use, rings are captures, a red cross means a placed piece would give check there, and a red dot or ring lets the other side checkmate next move. Undo takes back your last turn; the die gives the same roll again.
