Rook Poker: the daily puzzle and practice
CasualDaily deal: no rating change.
Puzzle
The daily is the same for everyone. Practice deals a new puzzle every time.
How to play
Chess pieces, poker hands.
The Rook attacks six cards and scores two pair. The Knight went first, so it blocks the third king.
- Place your 3 pieces on the cards, one at a time, in any order. The card under a piece is covered.
- Each piece scores the best poker hand from the cards it attacks, locked in the moment it lands. With 5 or more cards, the best 5 count. With fewer, only pairs, two pair, trips and quads score.
- Rook and bishop lines stop at the first piece already on the board. Cards never block. Knights jump.
- So order matters. Tap a card to see what a piece would score there, tap it again to place. Undo takes your last piece back (in the daily, until the third one lands).
- The best possible score is worked out exactly, and every puzzle hides a better line than just grabbing the biggest hand each time.
