King race
King race: four Kings, one board
How to play King race
A King race for four
- Four Kings race to the far side of a 9x9 board. Each far side is marked in its player's colour.
- Each turn: you may move your Knight or Bishop, then your King steps one square: never onto a piece, next to a King or onto a square another piece attacks.
Dots: your King's steps. Pink squares are attacked: your King cannot step there.
- First King across wins. So does checkmate: your piece attacks a King with no step.

Turns go White, Blue, Black, Orange. Every King starts one row in from its edge, and the last two players one row more. Your Knight and Bishop start on random squares near your edge, the same squares turned for every player, and no King starts attacked.
Knights and Bishops move as in chess and may take other players' Knights and Bishops, never a King. Kings never take. A King with no safe step waits: tap it, or move a piece. After 30 rounds the King nearest its far side wins; level Kings share it.
On the board: dots are moves, rings are pieces you can take, and a red cross is a square your King cannot step to (tap it to see why). A piece move waits half seen until you step (tap it to take it back). Undo takes back your last turn.
