Escort
Escort: one King, two guards
How to play Escort
Escort
- Two teams of two, one King each, shared by both partners. You have a Knight and a Bishop; your partner a Knight and the Bishop of the other square colour.
- Turns go White 1, Black 1, Black 2, White 2. On your turn move one of your own pieces, or step your King one square: never onto a piece, next to the other King or onto an attacked square, and never straight back where your partner just moved him.
Dots: the King's steps. The cross: your partner just moved him from there, so he can't step straight back.
- Get your King to the far row, or checkmate theirs: attacked with no safe step. After round 30 the King nearer his goal row wins.
Marks on the board

Small print
The board is 8 columns by 7 rows. Kings start in the middle of their back rows; the guards start on random squares of the team's first two rows, the other team's the mirror image. Knights and Bishops move as in chess and take enemy Knights and Bishops, never a King and never your partner's. Kings never take. With nothing to move you pass. Level after round 30: a draw.
On the board: dots are moves, rings are pieces you can take, and a red cross is a square your King cannot step to (tap it to see why). The gold corner marks your pieces, the blue one your partner's.
